The Teacher Grants

Great teachers are always looking for new ways to expand their instruction and engage with their students. Innovative teaching is important — but it certainly can be expensive.  The Education Foundation awards grants over $20,000 annually. Teaching grants can fund professional development, classroom enrichment, school supplies, and almost anything else that can go into bettering the quality of the students’ education.

Green Apple Awards

The Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58 invites the community to recognize an exceptional District 58 staff member with a Green Apple Award. With each Green Apple Award donation received, the Education Foundation will send a specially-designed Green Apple Award card to the teacher or staff member the donation is honoring, with a custom message from the donor. Green Apple recipients will also be celebrated on the District’s social media pages throughout the school year.

Distinguished Service Awards

The Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58 annually hosts the Distinguished Service Awards program to recognize the remarkable contributions of District 58 employees. Any District 58 staff member, parent, student or community member may nominate a District 58 employee for a Distinguished Service Award.

The Welcome Luncheon

Annually held by District 58, this luncheon welcomes all new teachers and administrators prior to the beginning of the school year.  In addition to Board Members of the Education Foundation, distinguished representatives from the Village of Downers Grove Police Department, Fire Department, Public Library and Park District are also in attendance to celebrate the new staff as well as celebrate the accomplishments of District 58.
