Bi-Annual Harlem Wizards Basketball Event
Experience the magic of the winter season at Downers Grove South High School with our beloved community event! The Harlem Wizards bring together staff members, public figures, and the community for a thrilling, interactive, and competitive family experience. Join us as the Community Team takes on the world-famous Harlem Wizards, with participants including police officers, firefighters, the Mayor of Downers Grove, state representatives, and teachers/staff. Mark your calendars for our next Harlem Wizards winter season event in 2025 and stay tuned for more excitement!
Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser
In mid-September, the arrival of Fall is celebrated with Oktoberfest! This festive event offers an array of authentic German delicacies from local vendors and establishments, as well as beverages for both adults and children. There are also plenty of activities for families to enjoy, including the Kids Zone and fun contests like the Brat & Donut Eating Contests. Additionally, there will be a diverse range of live music performances, including Polka, Classic Rock, and local children's talents. Don't miss out on the opportunity to join in the Kids Karaoke and more!
Grove Express 5K
In 2021, three local organizations collaborated to uphold the cherished tradition of the Thanksgiving Day 5K, an event beloved by countless families in Downers Grove. The Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58, the Rotary Club of Downers Grove, and the Roadrunners Soccer Club joined forces under the Grove Express Foundation to fulfill their shared mission of investing in education, youth programs, and scholarships within our community.
The proceeds from this 5K event benefit students at District 58 schools as well as Community High School District 99, which includes Downers Grove North and Downers Grove South high schools. Together, we strive to make a meaningful impact and support the growth and development of our students.
