Bi-Annual Harlem Wizards Basketball Event
This event takes place in February at Downers Grove South High School and has been a community favorite. The event itself gives the community a chance to witness key staff members and public figures, in a fun filled competitive and interactive family environment. The Community Team has an opportunity to compete against “The World Famous Harlem Wizards”. Participants can include Police and Firemen along with the Mayor, State Representatives and Teachers/Staff.
Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser
In mid-September Fall kicks off with Oktoberfest! The Fest offers authentic German fare from local vendors and establishments, beverages for both adults and kids alike; children- and family-based activities such as the Kids Zone, Brat & Donut Eating Contests; A variety of live music including Polka, Classic Rock, local children’s talents, Kids Karaoke and more.
Grove Express 5K
In 2021, three local organizations partnered together to carry forward the important tradition of a Thanksgiving Day Run/Walk — a staple for so many families around Downers Grove. Representatives from the Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58, the Rotary Club of Downers Grove, and the Roadrunners Soccer Club formed the Grove Express Foundation to uphold the mission of investing in education, youth programs, and scholarships in our community.
